ABOUT US

The name Marrow comes from the local Mbukushu language and means “the meeting of two channels.” This meaning reflects both the natural environment surrounding the camp and the spirit of the project itself — a place where community development and wildlife conservation meet and work together in harmony.

Marrow Camp was founded by Kennedy Tutalife, a proud member of the local community who has spent more than ten years working within the ecotourism sector. Through his experience, Kennedy recognized the opportunity to create a tourism initiative that not only welcomes visitors to this extraordinary region but also directly benefits the local people who call it home.

The camp has been thoughtfully designed in the style of a traditional African village, creating an atmosphere that is both authentic and welcoming. Construction focuses on locally sourced, sustainable materials, ensuring the development blends naturally with the surrounding environment while keeping the ecological footprint as low as possible.

Marrow Camp serves as a gateway for visitors wishing to explore the remarkable wilderness of the Kavango–Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area, one of the largest conservation landscapes in the world. From the camp, guests have convenient access to three spectacular national parks:

  • Bwabwata National Park
  • Mudumu National Park
  • Nkasa Rupara National Park

These parks are renowned for their diverse ecosystems, abundant wildlife, and dramatic river landscapes.

Beyond tourism, the camp plays an important role in supporting the local community. Income generated through the campsite and activities contributes directly to local families and livelihoods. By creating sustainable economic opportunities tied to conservation, the project provides a powerful incentive for communities to protect their natural heritage and wildlife for future generations.
